Western states' climate laws: the cost of inaction
If Western states don't substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions, they could face billions of dollars in health care and other related costs by 2020, according to reports by economists for the University of Oregon's Climate Leadership Initiative's Program on Climate Economics. Washington, Oregon and New Mexico will probably face associated annual costs of $3.8 billion, $3.3 billion and $3.2 billion by 2020, respectively, if they don't rein in greenhouse gas emissions, logging and other factors that drive climate change, according to reports released Monday.

Green Planet Catering Starts a Production Farm: Little Jerry Seinfield and Farm Fresh Eggs!

May 21, 2009

When i arrived on the farm on Wednesday we had a freshly mowed surrounding landscape, thanks to Chef Aaron, and 36 chickens! It's exciting to have a flock of dumb, yummy egg laying chickens around. Our rooster, who, for all Seinfield fans, i've started to call Little Jerry Seinfield, is very handsome and his ladies seem to be happy. They laid a dozen eggs as soon as they got there and haven't stopped since.

It's pretty exciting to get your first fresh eggs. We've been using them from our friend Ricky Barbour from the Eastern Wake Apiary but its much more satisifying when they came from your own chickens. Jason actually got these chickens donated to us! Jason wins the award this week for biggest score.

I also want to mention Frankie again. The guy built a killer chicken coop from taking a glance at The Backyard Barn book laying around our shed. Made it nice and easy to pull right up in your car, jump out and gather eggs, and get home for breakfast. Thanks Frankie!
